In September 2007, a group of friends moved into a house at 117 Oxford street in Toronto. During the coming years, an extended community grew within the run-down eight-room house. Dubbed “The OxfordHotel”, the house served as a music venue, studio space and second home for those who frequented it. This resulting community survived on the notion that with open minds and enough encouragement, beautiful things can be created.
Ultimately, this series is not about the art or the music that was created within The Oxford Hotel’s walls. These images are about the people that breathed life into an otherwise unimpressive house, on an otherwise unimpressive street, in a city unaware it came and went.
